Into the Spider-Verse We Go!

Into the Spider-Verse We Go!

For all you Spider-Man fans out there, I’ve got a story you’re gonna love: this past Christmas, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the first animated Spider-Man movie, was released in theaters. The movie focuses on Brooklyn Visions Academy student Miles Morales when he gets bitten by a freaky-looking spider, and gains spider powers. Following the death of Spider-Man, Miles tries to tap into the potential of his powers, but is in for an unexpected surprise when he encounters Peter Parker, the Spider-Man we all know and love – except he’s not the Spider-Man we all know and love anymore. He’s divorced from MJ, his Aunt May is deceased, and he’s got a potbelly. The incident that lead to Spider-Man’s death is what brought him to Miles’s universe. And it turns out, he’s not the only one: among the others brought here are Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, and Spider-Man Noir, oh, and an anime girl with a giant spider-bot of some kind, whose name I cannot remember. It’s up to the spiders to band together to save the world from an interdimensional threat. Expect to see: the Green Goblin, the Prowler, Doctor Octopus, and the Kingpin as the film’s main villain. Along the way, Miles must learn to find his true self in order to truly become Spider-Man. I say it is an adventure, with wacky humor throughout, making it more kid-friendly, but expect sudden twists and turns. Hey, if you want to see more of Miles in action, check out the book Miles Morales: Spider-Man, currently available in our school library!
