When Flowers Bloom
June 25, 2021
Flowers bloom around me
Constantly.
People gaze upon them, touch them,
Praise them.
They shine with brightness,
Their leaves cradling the iridescent water of spring.
The small yellow ones, dotting the hillside with promise.
The big red ones, standing out in a sea of green.
When they succeed, the people rejoice.
Petals appear in bouquets and tablesides,
When they die, the people let their tears water the earth.
Why can I not rejoice the same way?
Perhaps because I am just the way I am,
A blade of grass in a sea of flowers.
